School starts here tomorrow in Lake Stevens. Of course, you may not be too late to use the school year to advertise your business and services. High school football games are coming up, and present an excellent opportunity for a fundraiser - the seat cushion.
How it works:
- The fundraising group agrees to purchase a quantity of imprinted stadium seat cushions.
- The group them approaches local businesses and offers to sell them advertising space on the cushion. I've done both 9 and 16 spaces on the cushion. A 9 cushion space sells for $100, a 16 cushion space (about the size of a business card) sells for $75.
- The group uses the proceeds from the ads to pay for the cushions. (Selling out either grouping will more than pay for the cost of the cushions).
- Fundraising group then sells the cushions for full price (usually $10 to $12) and keeps all proceeds from the sale.
If done correctly, this fundraiser could net you up to $1800 on a sale of 100 cushions.
Other items of interest:
- Everyone knows the Christmas season has the highest volume of sales in the US. But what holiday is second? Halloween! Now is the time to be a part of this by being a part of the the folks keeping kids safe when they are out trick or treating. Two ideas:
- Use reflective stickers or wristbands that shine back when exposed to headlights.
- Goodie bags for their treats made of a shiny mylar material... like these:

For giveaways, how about:
- Imprinted candies with your business name and information.
- Imprinted pens or pencils
Just some ideas on ways to be part of the holiday.

Arrgh, maties. Be ye ready for that day of renown, otherwise known as International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Tis a day of fun and frivolity, and none better at showin' yer humorous side to yer clients. Send out a greeting to them written in the style of ye pirate brethren, along with an eyepatch and perhaps some chocolate gold pieces of eight - in a bag with the compass bearings to yer fair company, of course.
Enough news fer now. Time fer me to shove off. Until next time...
